Hello there, my name is Taylor C. Wright and I have thoughts, some of them even make it in to the form of a song.
I started in the local music scene as a drummer in 2003 when a close friend asked me to play drums for his band (disregarding the fact that I had no experience and did not own a drum set at the time). I have worn many hats over my time in the industry, from drummer, singer, guitarist, writer, producer, sound tech, booker, stage manager, to marketing manager just to name a few. I received my first radio play in 2005 and have been fortunate enough to have worked with and open for national and international acts over the course of my career.
Songs should trigger an emotional response from the listener. Good songs should cause the listener to see a picture in their mind. Great songs should cause an emotional response by allowing the listener to fill in the blanks of what the song is saying with their own life experience. No artist can make a great song, a great song can only be made by the listener.
Wright Songs is a place where to explore the way I approach music and entertainment along with a quirky cast of extras that I’ve met throughout my journey. Music is one of my passions. It wasn’t until later I realized that the experiences from my other hobbies such as camping, hiking, sports, exercise, and reading helped fuel and progress my love of music. While I am working towards my goal of becoming a lawyer, I would love to one day start a non-profit company to help local musicians early in their career. For now, I hope this blog provides you something to think about in a new way.
